Lehoux Art – Wells

Danielle Lehoux launched Lehoux Art to create a more flexible and fulfilling path—one that could accommodate the ups and downs of managing a chronic health condition while pursuing creative fulfillment.

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Wells-based business designs nature-inspired products like prints, trays, coasters, and cards that reflect the calm, beauty, and texture of New England life. Danielle’s artwork, painted in layered detail using a modern block-print style, features birds, lighthouses, coastal scenes, and mountain landscapes designed to evoke connection and nostalgia.

The business began as a creative outlet and a way to manage her health while doing something meaningful. As her brand and customer base grew, Danielle saw the potential to increase the existing wholesale division of the business. That’s when she reached out to the Maine SBDC and connected with Business Advisor Anne Lancaster in 2019.

With Anne’s consistent support, Danielle scaled her home-based business and navigated key areas like marketing and financing. “Anne has been essential to my continued success—her insight and expertise are truly invaluable,” Danielle shared. With her guidance, Lehoux Art expanded from 20 to over 60 wholesale accounts in just a few years. Together, they tackled topics like marketing strategy and financing, using regular check-ins to keep progress steady and strategic.

This year, Danielle celebrated another major milestone: the launch of her first coloring book, published by Downeast Books. Looking ahead, she plans to continue growing her product line and reach beyond Maine, building on her brand’s strong foundation and creative vision.

“I frequently recommend the SBDC because it’s invaluable at every stage—from launching a business to scaling and everything in between—with resources that are incredibly helpful for all aspects of running a business,” she said.

For Danielle, success means being able to grow on her own terms while connecting with others through her artwork. As Lehoux Art enters its second decade, Danielle continues to grow on her own terms—driven by creativity, connection, and the joy of bringing New England’s natural beauty to life. This August, she’ll mark the business’s 10-year anniversary with in-store celebrations, 10 days of giveaways on social media, and a special event on August 23 from 10-4 at her shop located at 1662 Post Road in Wells.
