Since 2008, Victor Rios and his business Expose Design LLC has provided small businesses with customized marketing solutions that help them grow. Expose Design offers all things marketing including graphic design, logo creation, print work, embroidery, screen-printing, and promotional content creation. Like most small businesses, Expose Design took a financial hit during the pandemic. This in combination with some previous high-interest debt had Victor concerned about his future. He was referred to the Maine Small Business Development Centers for assistance understanding funding options to help in the recovery process.
Victor worked closely with Lori Allen, Maine SBDC Business Advisor at Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments. They started by reviewing his financials to better understand the business’s financial situation. Lori helped Victor understand best practices in financial management. They also worked together to discuss available funding options. Ultimately, Victor was able to secure an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) as well as a Maine Economic Recovery Grant.
With this new funding, strong ambition and understanding of financial management, Victor was able to support the business throughout the summer and fall while securing new accounts. The new business income enabled him to renegotiate and settle his past loans. He is headed into 2021 in much better shape, both financially and philosophically, with a deeper understanding of how to best manage his company in the years to come.
