Emily Carle launched her mobile direct primary care practice in Freeport to reimagine healthcare delivery. With over 20 years of healthcare experience, including work as a medical missionary, EMT, ER nurse, forensic nurse, and now as a nurse practitioner, she knew she wanted to build something different. She envisioned a model rooted in authenticity, community focus, and genuine care, bringing healthcare back to what it simply is: health and care.
She opened Emily Carle FNP Mobile Direct Primary Care in October 2025, offering mobile visits, house calls, office visits, preventative and primary care, and non-member urgent care—meeting patients where they are, whether at home, at work, or even on a walk. Beyond direct services, she commits to community wellness through free monthly walks, health screenings, and health education.
Emily’s philosophy centers on person-centered, trauma-informed care that integrates holistic approaches and lifestyle medicine. “The small difference I make is the privilege of being present in someone’s life and walking beside them on their journey,” she said. But balancing her mission with the realities of business ownership presented challenges.
To ensure she was building on a solid foundation, Emily reached out to Maine SBDC. She wanted help organizing, planning thoroughly, and managing the business side while delivering safe, effective healthcare.
Business Advisor Christine Cole offered both structure and steady encouragement. “Chris has been a wealth of knowledge as well as encouragement. It means so much to be on a mission and feel supported and cheered on. She has enabled me with tools, resources and feedback to continue to grow and serve my communities,” Emily said.
Looking ahead, Emily hopes to expand her membership model, increase community outreach, and eventually create a central gathering place—a farmhouse that feels like home—where people can come together for care. She also hopes to set an example and mentor the next generation of providers through partnerships with local nursing schools, promoting accessible and authentic healthcare.
She’s currently organizing her first annual Community Health Fair, taking place February 7 from 12-3pm at Yoga Etc. in Yarmouth, with 14 local providers already participating. As the event sponsor, she hopes it will become a regular opportunity to highlight local health resources and fulfill her mission of increasing access to care.
