Self-employed Reservists and Guards should access the Small Business Administration (SBA) Resource Guide (including an interactive disk) by calling: 202-205-6773 (1-800-U ASK SBA). Also check out the SBA Office of Veterans Business Development's web site www.sba.gov/reservists Both provide many resources to assist self employed reservists and guards keep their business (full time or part time) as healthy as possible before and during deployment. When returning from deployment, the clock starts ticking regarding veteran's eligibility for some programs. That's why it is important to quickly access the Resource Guide and disk for sources of business financing such as the Military Reservists Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (MREIDL) and/or Patriot Express loans through the SBA. Here, also, veterans will learn how to access health care benefits and provisions for the military with regard to taxes. The Resource Guide provides the reservist/guard with contact information for many other organizations with programs and benefits.
